MOGADISHU \u2013 Somalia and Germany have strengthened their development partnership with the signing of a \u20ac75 million cooperation agreement in Mogadishu on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The pact, aligned with Somalia’s National Transformation Plan (NTP 2025-2029), targets key sectors essential for the country’s growth: agriculture and food systems, education, employment, and climate resilience.<\/p>\n

Somali Minister of Planning, Investment and Economic Development, Mahmud A. Sheikh Farah (Beenebeene), and Germany’s Head of the East Africa Department, Ms. Julia Hanning, formalized the agreement. The signing culminated from high-level talks building on a previous 2023 accord.<\/p>\n

Minister Beenebeene stated the partnership directly supports the NTP’s core objectives, emphasizing “job creation, basic services, and climate resilience.”<\/p>\n

Ms. Hanning reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to Somalia’s development, highlighting over six decades of bilateral relations. \u201cWe are dedicated to programs that deliver tangible improvements in services, employment, and inclusive economic growth,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
