GAROOWE (Sahan Post) \u2014 As political alliances in Somalia realign ahead of national elections expected in the next seven months, Puntland is positioning itself to play a central role in shaping the country\u2019s future governance framework.<\/p>\n
Puntland President Said Abdullahi Deni has announced that his administration is planning to host a high-level conference in Garowe focused on addressing Somalia\u2019s state-building challenges and identifying sustainable solutions.<\/p>\n
Speaking in Garowe, President Deni said the upcoming forum will bring together Somali scholars and experts\u2014rather than political actors driven by personal interests\u2014to produce independent ideas aimed at restoring effective state institutions in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the Government of Puntland, we want to facilitate a platform where scholars with expertise in state-building can gather in Garowe to examine, through rigorous analysis, the obstacles facing Somalia\u2019s state-building process,\u201d President Deni stated.<\/p>\n
He added, \u201cPoliticians may often be influenced by personal ambitions, but we want rational judgement to lead, not emotion or self-interest. This is the responsibility we expect Somali intellectuals and religious scholars to fulfill.\u201d<\/p>\n
