Erigavo: President’s Peace Mediation Committee Resolves a Seven-Year-Old Case

A longstanding dispute over the killing of Hussein Mohamed Salah (Binaate) has been successfully resolved. The case, which had remained unresolved for nearly seven years, concerned Mr. Salah, an officer of the Somaliland National Army who was stationed in the Carmal area.

After extensive efforts, a comprehensive resolution was formally reached today, October 8, 2025. The Mediation and Peace-Building Committee, in collaboration with the National Peace Committee, played a pivotal role in brokering the agreement between the two parties.

The resolution of this protracted conflict marks a significant step toward strengthening peace and fostering communal coexistence within the Erigavo district.
