Yemen and Somalia Discuss Strengthening Security Cooperation and Combating Human Trafficking

Yemen’s Minister of Defense, Major General Mohsen Al-Daari, met with the Ambassador of the Federal Government of Somalia to Yemen, Abdulhakim Mohamed, in the city of Aden to discuss matters of mutual interest to Somalia.

The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two brotherly countries. Particular emphasis was placed on bolstering joint efforts to combat illegal human trafficking and terrorist groups that exploit these activities.

The Yemeni Minister of Defense expressed his happiness with the historic relations between the two nations. He underscored the importance of collectively confronting the security threats in the region to safeguard the stability and security of the strategic maritime routes.

For his part, the Somali Ambassador to Yemen thanked the Yemeni government for its steadfast support to the people and government of Somalia. He reiterated Somalia’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the areas of security, politics, and development.

This meeting is seen as a step towards establishing a new security partnership between Yemen and Somalia, as both nations face common challenges related to maritime security and the activities of extremist groups in the region.
