Libya Rescues 23 Somalis Kidnapped by Human Trafficking Gang

Libya (SahanPost):Libyan government forces have rescued 23 Somali nationals from a criminal gang involved in human trafficking and kidnapping for ransom, following a coordinated security operation.

According to reports from the area where the operation took place, Libyan security forces also arrested five members of the gang, all of whom are Somali nationals.

Officials stated that the rescued individuals include 10 women and 13 men who were being held in a secret facility operated by the traffickers.

The victims have been transferred to a medical center for physical and psychological care, while the suspects will be brought before the court to face justice.

Although the exact location of the operation was not disclosed, sources indicate it took place in southern Libya—a region known for frequent human trafficking and migrant kidnapping incidents.

This operation is part of Libya’s ongoing efforts to crack down on human smuggling networks and protect migrants attempting to reach Europe.
