“Erigavo Belongs to Us All”: Sultan Calls for Collective Action to Sustain Peace in Sanaag

Erigavo, Somaliland – In the wake of a successful peace conference, Sultan Said Sultan Abdisalan has issued a powerful call for unity, describing Erigavo as a shared home for all its communities and urging collective efforts to secure a peaceful future for the Sanaag region.

The Sultan expressed profound gratitude to the President of Somaliland and all stakeholders who contributed to the historic conference, which has established a new foundation for harmony and collaboration.

“Erigavo belongs to us all—it is a city of brothers and sisters,” Sultan Said declared, emphasizing the inclusive nature of the community. He extended an open invitation to those not yet involved to join the peace process, underscoring that security and prosperity are common goals that benefit everyone.

He affirmed that the peacebuilding initiative is driven by a selfless dedication to national and communal well-being, stating, “Our sole aim is the well-being of our nation and its people.”

The Sultan called on all segments of Sanaag society—including elders, women, youth, religious leaders, and local authorities—to take ownership of the peace process. “We are the ones who can establish and maintain peace in Erigavo,” he urged, inspiring local leadership to restore the region’s dignity and unity.

While acknowledging the crucial role of the government and the various committees involved, Sultan Said pledged his unwavering commitment to seeing the process through to its completion. “We have fulfilled our duty and are ready to finish what remains,” he vowed.

The Erigavo peace conference is widely seen as a pivotal moment for Sanaag, uniting its people behind a shared vision of stability and progress and paving the way for a more prosperous tomorrow.
