Mogadishu – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has urged the leadership and staff of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency to strengthen immigration laws, improve the quality of citizen services, and combat human trafficking, terrorism, and illegal migration.
The President emphasized that the government has decided to reinforce the border security system to prevent criminals or groups threatening security from easily entering the country.
President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud commended the significant achievements of the Immigration Agency, particularly the modernization of the e-Visa issuance process and the implementation of the new PISCES system. This is a modern system for managing borders and identifying individuals, utilizing biometric data such as fingerprints and facial recognition.
Furthermore, the Director-General of the Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Mustafe Sheikh Ali Dhuxulow, stated that the President has directed the strengthening of the e-Visa system and the enhancement of the quality and security of the Somali Passport to bring it up to international standards.
The President’s remarks came after an inspection visit to the headquarters of the Somali Immigration and Citizenship Agency, where he listened to briefings from agency staff on their ongoing work.
