Sultan Said Attends Djibouti Somali Peace Conference Anniversary

Sultan Said Abdi-Salan

Djibouti (Sahan Post): Sultan Said Abdisalan, one of Somalia’s prominent traditional leaders, is among the elders participating in the conference currently being held in Djibouti.

The President of the Republic of Djibouti, H.E. Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, is hosting the event to mark the 25th anniversary of the Somali Peace Conference, a historic meeting that played a key role in rebuilding Somalia’s governance after years of civil conflict.

As part of the celebrations, a new Horn of Africa Reconciliation Center, named the Carta Peace Monument, has been inaugurated. The site holds deep historical significance, as it symbolizes peace and the early stages of Somalia’s post-war state-building efforts.

Sultan Said Abdisalan received an official invitation from the Government of Djibouti to attend the commemorative conference, which honors the 25 years since the Carta Peace Conference, the first major gathering where a civilian-led Somali government was elected following the collapse of the former military regime.

Delegations from various parts of Somalia and around the world are attending the event, reflecting broad participation and renewed commitment to peace and reconciliation in the region.
