
GAROWE (Sahan Post): – Puntland State has launched a one-month livestock vaccination campaign targeting overn300,000 animals to protect herds vital to the region’s pastoral economy, officials said on Sunday.
The initiative, led by the Ministry of Livestock, Rangelands and Forestry, aims to reach 3,600 pastoral families amid worsening drought and erratic rainfall.
Vice President Ilyas Osman Lugatoor said livestock health was key to sustaining Puntland’s economy, while Director-General Hassan Mohamed Ciise Goodir urged veterinary teams to reach remote areas.
The campaign, attended by government officials, lawmakers and veterinarians, is part of broader efforts to boost livestock health and strengthen resilience against climate change.
