Muqdisho (Sahan Post): The Chairman of the National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mr. Mahamoud Macalin Abdulle, alongside the Director-General of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Suleiman Sheikh Omar, and other senior government officials, launched the Catastrophe Deferred Drawdown Option project. This initiative, supported by the World Bank, aims to enhance Somalia’s capacity to respond to natural disasters and mitigate their impact on communities.
The project will strengthen government agencies’ ability to address urgent disaster situations, preventing displacement and minimizing loss of life and property.
Chairman Abdulle stressed the project’s importance, especially given the reduction in humanitarian funding, and highlighted its role in building national resilience to future disasters. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to disaster-related funding and continued cooperation with the World Bank and other partners to ensure the safety and development of Somalia.
