Suspect Arrested in Mogadishu After Fatal Stabbing of Husband, Somali Police Say

Mogadishu (Sahan Post) — Security forces in Mogadishu have arrested a woman accused of fatally stabbing her husband during a domestic incident in the Dayniile district, authorities said on Thursday.

Police identified the suspect as Faadumo Mohamed Osman, who was detained during a security operation in neighbourhoods across Dayniile. She is alleged to have stabbed her husband, Hassan Mohamed Nur, who later died from severe knife wounds, according to the Banaadir Regional Police Command.

In a statement, police said investigations are continuing to determine the circumstances that led to the killing. The suspect is expected to be brought before a court once initial inquiries are completed.

Sahan Post noted that incidents of domestic violence and interpersonal killings have risen in recent months across Somalia, a trend linked to economic hardship, social instability and untreated mental health conditions.
