Boosaaso (Sahan Post) – The Puntland Defence Forces announced that at least five members of the ISIS-affiliated militant faction operating in the Cal-Miskaad mountains were killed in targeted airstrikes near Ceelka Baarakallaah in the Baallade valley.
According to an official statement released by the Puntland military command in the Cal-Miskaad highlands, the strikes were carried out by Puntland’s international partners, identified as the United States. The announcement, shared through the “Operation Hillaac” communication channel, said the militants were eliminated during precision airstrikes in the Barakallah area.
In a parallel development, the operation also reported the capture of a Moroccan national alleged to be responsible for installing GPS devices for ISIS cells in the region.
“The forces apprehended the head of GPS coordination for ISIS, who was detained while attempting to flee. The suspect, a Moroccan citizen identifying himself as Abdirihiin Ibnu Borosa, was captured during ongoing operations,” the statement read. It added that Puntland’s Minister of Commerce, Ahmed Shire, visited the location where the suspect was detained.
