GAROWE (Sahan Post):— The Speaker of the Puntland House of Representatives Abdirisak Ahmed Said has appointed Ismail Warsame Aden as a new member of the Puntland Electoral Commission (PEC), filling a seat left vacant after the previous holder joined the regional parliament.
The Speaker said the appointment was necessary to accelerate preparations for Puntland’s upcoming electoral process, noting that Ismail Warsame Aden met all eligibility requirements for PEC membership.
Speaker Abdirisak Ahmed Said wished the new commissioner success in carrying out his duties and contributing to the effective implementation of Puntland’s elections.
Ismail Warsame Aden hails from the Sanaag region. The PEC also approved new electoral regulations on Tuesday as part of efforts to advance future elections in Puntland.
