Yubbe (Sahan Post):— The construction of the Yubbe–Waqderiya road, a vital route being built through a community self-help initiative, is advancing steadily as residents of Yubbe in the Ceerigaabo district continue to pool their labor and resources.
The road passes through steep, rocky, and mountainous terrain that has long made travel difficult. Despite the challenging landscape, construction has been ongoing for months, with local residents contributing both physical effort and livestock to sustain the work.
Students from area schools have also been volunteering during their holidays to support the project, while nomadic communities have donated animals to assist those working on the road. Once completed, the road is expected to significantly improve travel between Yubbe and the coastal area of Waqderiya, strengthening trade, connectivity, and access to essential services.
Project coordinators have issued a public appeal to the Somali diaspora and philanthropists, urging them to support the initiative by contributing whatever they can. They highlighted an urgent need for construction tools, drilling and rock-breaking equipment, as well as heavy machinery such as bulldozers and excavators.
