What did Hassan Sheikh highlight in his Address to Parliament?

Mogadishu – The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, delivered a speech today to the members of both houses of Parliament. He strongly condemned the Israeli Prime Minister’s decision to recognize Somaliland.

President Hassan Sheikh stated that Netanyahu’s move is utterly unacceptable and constitutes a flagrant violation of international law.

“The step taken by Netanyahu is one that can never be accepted. It is a violation of international law and represents a blatant aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Federal Republic of Somalia,” said President Hassan Sheikh.

“I also inform the international community that Netanyahu’s violation is a threat to global security and, simultaneously, encourages extremism,” he added.

President Hassan Sheikh emphasized that the Somaliland issue is an internal Somali matter. Therefore, any external interference aimed at dividing the country is unacceptable.

Furthermore, while addressing the situation in Palestine, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud stated, “Somalia will never accept the forced displacement of the Palestinian people from their land or their resettlement in our country or any other.”
