What Prompted Senator Dubbe’s Resignation?

Mogadishu – Senator Osman Aden Dubbe, a member of the Upper House of Somalia’s Federal Parliament, announced today his resignation from his post and his departure from Somali politics.

Senator Dubbe stated that his decision is fundamentally tied to the Somaliland issue, explaining that he has become disillusioned with the foundational Somali unity he once championed. He expressed approval for Israel’s decision to recognize Somaliland.

Osman Dubbe also accused Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of causing difficulties for the communities of Somaliland and Puntland over the past three years.

Dubbe’s resignation follows a meeting last night between President Hassan Sheikh and Members of Parliament from both houses who originate from Somaliland, during which they discussed Israel’s decision to recognize the region.
