Mogadishu – In a released statement, former Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmaajo addressed the nation’s political situation, focusing on electoral processes and constitutional amendments.
Farmaajo expressed strong opposition to an unconstitutional extension of the Federal Government institutions’ mandate, unilateral elections, and what he termed a push toward a “two-state” system operating under two separate constitutions.
The former president called on the current leadership to halt the constitutional amendment process and commit to a legal pathway that includes all segments of Somali society.
He asserted that dialogue and consensus are the only viable methods to resolve the nation’s critical disputes, adding that he welcomes all efforts aimed at finding a solution to the current impasse.
