Jubaland President, Ahmed Madobe, Meets with UN and EU Representatives in Kismayo

Kismayo (Sahan Post) – The President of Jubaland, Ahmed Madobe, held a meeting with the United Nations Special Representative to Somalia, James Swan, and the European Union Ambassador to Somalia, Francesca Di Mauro.

The meeting focused on the complex political situation in Somalia, with discussions centering on the challenges at hand and the opportunities available to strengthen Somalia’s state-building process. Additionally, the upcoming conference scheduled to take place in Kismayo was also a key topic of discussion.

The opposition conference is set to be held on the 17th of this month in Kismayo, despite efforts by the Federal Government to prevent its occurrence. Presidents of the Puntland and Jubaland regional states, along with representatives from the Somali Future Council, are expected to attend. The focus of the meeting will be on the country’s political direction, especially with the expiration of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s mandate just months away.
