Badhan (Sahan Post): A major military graduation ceremony was held yesterday in Badhan, Sanaag region, where more than 1,582 recruits completed their training to join the Puntland Darawiish forces.
The event was attended by the Sanaag Regional Governor, senior commanders from the Puntland Defense Forces, police leadership, military officers, and members of Puntland’s government institutions.
The recruits completed a six-month intensive military program at the General Green Military Academy in Badhan. During the ceremony, the Commander of the Puntland Defense Forces, Gen. Adan Abdi Hashi, delivered remarks highlighting the readiness and capability of the new forces. The Governor of Sanaag, Said Badmah, along with other officials, also addressed the gathering.
Military officials stated that the graduating soldiers have been fully equipped and trained to enhance their operational skills and will now formally join Puntland’s security and defense operations.
The recruits have been supplied with weapons, vehicles, and necessary logistical support. They are expected to participate in ongoing security operations, including Puntland’s fight against ISIS-aligned groups in Bari region and the planned offensive to liberate the Almadow Mountains in Sanaag.
Under the leadership of President Said Abdullahi Deni, the Puntland administration has intensified efforts to strengthen and modernize its security forces. Recently, the government concluded another training program for 1,500 police officers in Carmo, Bari region, who have since been deployed across multiple regions, with the United Arab Emirates assisting Puntland in the construction and upgrading of police facilities.
