Mogadishu (Sahan Post) — Armed assailants today shot and killed Cumar Kalaxay, a plainclothes officer serving with Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA). The attack occurred near the former Saruur checkpoint in the Heliwaa district of Banadir region.
Witnesses reported that two gunmen armed with pistols approached the officer at close range and opened fire, killing him instantly. His body was transported shortly afterward to Madina Hospital.
Preliminary reports indicate that the assailant fled the scene, and security agencies have launched investigations to identify those responsible for the killing.
Security forces have intensified operations in neighborhoods surrounding the attack site. Government security agencies have not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
