President Deni Returns to Puntland Amid Expected Cabinet Reshuffle

Garowe (Sahan Post): President Said Abdullahi Deni returned this Saturday morning to the Puntland capital, Garowe, after a month-long trip abroad, primarily to the United Arab Emirates.

President Deni did not comment on his trip to the UAE, similar to many of his previous visits to the country, whose purpose has often not been publicly disclosed.

Information obtained by Sahan Post indicates that President Deni is expected to carry out a reshuffle of his Council of Ministers, and it is anticipated that he may introduce new faces into his administration.

President Said Abdullahi Deni is scheduled to open the Puntland Book Fair in Garowe tomorrow, after which he will travel to the city of Kismayo to attend the “Somalia Future Council” conference, where discussions will focus on national elections and completing the work of the council.

Somalia is expected to head toward elections in six months, though there is still no agreement on the type of election or how it will be conducted, with political divisions continuing to widen.
