Nairobi – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia is scheduled to visit Nairobi, Kenya, next week for a meeting with President William Ruto.
According to sources cited by Puntland Post, President Hassan Sheikh aims to formally complain to the Kenyan government about Jubaland President Ahmed Madobe, a prominent member of the opposition Future Council of Somalia.
This follows a similar démarche made to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed on December 19.
Both Kenya and Ethiopia have previously attempted, unsuccessfully, to mediate between President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and Ahmed Madobe.
President Madobe is noted for his strong ties with the neighboring governments of Kenya and Ethiopia, both of which wield considerable security and political influence in Somalia.
