Somali Parliament Approves the African Continental Free Trade Area Agreemen

Mogadishu (SahanPost):- The Members of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia held their 6th session of the 7th sitting at the Parliament Headquarters, chaired by Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), alongside First Deputy Speaker Sadia Yasin Haji Samatar.

During the session, MPs overwhelmingly approved the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, with 145 members voting in favor, one opposing, and none abstaining, according to Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur.

Additionally, lawmakers were presented with the second reading reports of two draft bills: the National Payment System Bill and the Revised Anti-Piracy and Anti-Kidnapping Law (Law No. 36), originally enacted on April 30, 1975.
