MOGADISHU (Sahan Post):- Somali Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre on Thursday launched the “Rajo Kaaba” project, a national scholarship initiative aimed at empowering Somali women pursuing Master’s degrees.
The program, unveiled at a ceremony in Mogadishu, seeks to boost women’s participation in higher education and enhance their leadership roles across key sectors.
Barre said the initiative forms part of the DanQaran government’s broader agenda to promote equality and strengthen national capacity through education.
“Education is the key to life and progress,” he said, calling the project a cornerstone of Somalia’s transformation efforts. He urged women to take active roles in shaping the country’s future, particularly in upcoming local elections.
The Prime Minister commended the Ministry of Education and Somali National University for advancing educational quality and aligning it with Somali values and development goals.
