Mogadishu (Sahan Post) — Somali Prime Minister, Hamza Abdi Barre, today met with Saudi Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Ahmed Bin Mohammed Salah Al-Muwallad, as part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government of Somalia to strengthen diplomatic relations and bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The meeting focused on fortifying the longstanding ties between the two nations, with discussions centered on enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including security, economics, investment, and social affairs. Special attention was given to accelerating Saudi-backed development projects in Somalia and the Kingdom’s vital role in humanitarian aid, particularly in providing assistance to those affected by droughts.
Prime Minister Hamza expressed his gratitude to Saudi Arabia for its unwavering support to the Somali people and government, underscoring the importance of increasing Saudi investments in Somalia’s infrastructure and economic sectors.
For his part, Ambassador Al-Muwallad reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s commitment to further strengthening the strategic relationship between the two countries. He assured the Prime Minister that Saudi Arabia remains ready to expand its support and developmental initiatives in Somalia.
The meeting was attended by key Somali officials, including the Chairman of the Disaster Management Agency, Mahamoud Macalin Abdulle, the Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office, Kamal Dahir Guutale, and other senior government representatives.
This diplomatic engagement highlights Somalia’s continued efforts to build strong partnerships with international allies to foster economic growth, stability, and development.
