Algiers (Sahan Post): – Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud and his Algerian counterpart, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, witnessed the signing of several key cooperation agreements between the foreign ministers of both nations.
The agreements cover a wide range of sectors, including livestock export, agricultural development, education, oil and natural gas exploration, and facilitation of travel. Notably, Somali diplomatic passport holders will now be granted visas upon arrival in Algeria.
These agreements mark the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at strengthening ties between the two brotherly nations and benefiting the peoples of Somalia and Algeria.
President Hassan Sheikh expressed his gratitude to President Tebboune and the people of Algeria for their warm hospitality and spirit of solidarity, acknowledging Algeria’s long-standing role in defending African interests and supporting friendly nations.
The Somali leader also thanked President Tebboune for offering 500 scholarships to Somali students, particularly in critical fields such as agriculture, fisheries, and petroleum studies—areas vital to Somalia’s national development.
Finally, President Hassan Sheikh praised President Tebboune’s leadership in establishing the “African Cooperation and Solidarity Fund,” describing it as a visionary initiative that promotes unity and progress across the continent. He reaffirmed Somalia’s aspiration to actively participate in and benefit from this fund.
