Somalia’s Future Council Issues Statement Following Nairobi Conference

Nairobi (Sahan Post) – The Somalia Future Council, which brings together Puntland, Jubbaland, and the National Salvation Forum, has released a press statement following a three-day meeting held in Nairobi, Kenya.

In their statement, the Council announced plans to organize a national conference aimed at paving the way for inclusive and consensus-based elections, rejecting the ongoing electoral process being pursued by the Federal Government of Somalia as illegitimate.

The Council also dismissed as null and void any amendments made or to be made to the 2012 Provisional Constitution, emphasizing that the agreed framework remains the foundation for Somalia’s governance.

Furthermore, the Future Council declared that it will not recognize any actions leading to term extensions for federal institutions whose mandates are coming to an end.

The statement also criticized the E-visa system recently introduced by the Federal Government, alleging that it serves private financial interests and poses a threat to the unity and cohesion of the country.
