Somalia’s Regional Leaders Laud Peaceful Mogadishu Elections and Democratic Progress

The Presidents of the South West, Galmudug, and Hirshabelle states have extended their congratulations to the people of the Banaadir region for peacefully casting their ballots today in the landmark one-person, one-vote election.

In individual statements, the three regional leaders commended the political consciousness, civic responsibility, and resolute commitment of Banaadir’s citizens to engage in the nation’s democratic process. They highlighted that this election marks a historic stride toward establishing a government founded on the will of the people.

The presidents further praised the security forces, electoral committees, and all officials who worked to implement the Mogadishu election, acknowledging their role in ensuring the polling was conducted in a peaceful and orderly environment.

Presidents Laftagareen, Qoorqoor, and Guudlaawe underscored the critical importance of the Somali people’s continued participation in the democratic journey. They emphasized that such engagement is essential to securing a leadership truly chosen by popular will and to bolstering national unity and progress.
