Somaliland President Holds National Briefing with Heads of the Three National Parties

Hargeisa – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Cirro), today convened a high-level national briefing at the Presidential Palace with the senior leadership of the nation’s three political parties: Waddani, Kaah, and Kulmiye.

The meeting, which held significant political importance, focused on the nation’s general situation. Key topics of discussion included national security and stability, the economy, the progress of foreign policy, and upcoming elections. The President provided the party leaders with a comprehensive briefing on the current state of the nation and its strategic direction.

President Cirro detailed the objectives and diplomatic outcomes of his recent working visits to the United Arab Emirates and Ethiopia. He described these trips as strategic efforts to elevate Somaliland’s bilateral relations with these countries and to strengthen cooperation in security, economic development, investment, and establishing a pivotal role in matters affecting the Horn of Africa.

Furthermore, the President briefed the National Parties on the positive developments regarding the oil exploration project in Ceerigaabo, noting that peace-building efforts in the area are proceeding successfully.

President Cirro urged the three parties to enhance collaboration, both with the government and amongst themselves, to ensure the nation continues on its established path of peace, development, and the national consensus for which Somaliland is renowned.

In response, the senior leadership of the opposition parties (Kaah and Kulmiye) and the ruling party (Waddani) welcomed the briefing session initiated by the President. They described the meeting as a positive example of functional democracy and genuine patriotism. They also reaffirmed their support for the government on all matters pertaining to the national destiny of the Republic of Somaliland.
