HARGEISA – The President of the Republic of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Irro), has expressed deep sorrow following the death of former Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
In an official statement, President Cirro extended his heartfelt condolences to the Odinga family, the people, and the government of the Republic of Kenya. He described the late leader as a “courageous and resilient figure” and a “cherished friend” to Somaliland.
President Cirro eulogized Odinga as a tenacious hero and a champion of justice, democratic expression, and African unity. He emphasized Odinga’s influential role not only in Kenya but also across the Horn of Africa and the continent as a whole.
“Raila Odinga was a statesman of profound vision with a sophisticated grasp of international politics,” President Cirro stated. “He was a steadfast defender of African democracy and demonstrated a genuine understanding of the aspirations and national interests of the Somaliland people.”
The President extended his nation’s official condolences to Kenya and the wider African community, noting that Odinga’s passing represents a significant loss for the entire continent.
