Reports from the Al-Miskad Mountains in the Bari region indicate that three soldiers were killed and five others wounded after a vehicle carrying Puntland forces was targeted by an explosion.
The blast, reportedly caused by a remotely detonated landmine, occurred today on the new road connecting the city of Bosaso to the Dhaadaar village in the Qandala district. It is reported that the targeted troops were conducting mine-clearing operations in the area.
This is not the first time roads used by Puntland forces operating in the Al-Miskad Mountains have been targeted by bombs. Similar explosions causing varying degrees of damage have occurred multiple times on the routes they use.
Puntland forces have been engaged in a year-long battle against the terrorist group Daesh, which remains active in parts of the Al-Miskad Mountains.
