The United States government conducted airstrikes last night in the Cal Miskaad mountain range, an area where fighters affiliated with the Daesh (ISIS) group remain active.
Security officials from Puntland confirmed that the airstrikes targeted fortified caves where members of the Daesh faction were hiding. These militants are entrenched in the Cal Miskaad mountains, where Puntland Defense Forces have encircled the terrorist elements.
The locations struck are reported to be in the areas of Hays, Baarikallaah, and Marraagade, all situated within the Cal Miskaad range.
Security officials further stated that their forces launched a ground assault on the targeted sites this morning to confirm that no militants had escaped or were regrouping.
Reports indicate that the operation is still ongoing, with forces working to clear areas suspected of still harboring Daesh remnants.
There is no official information available yet regarding the casualties resulting from the airstrikes and the subsequent ground assault.
